Our Mission

The mission of the Horizon Science Academy-Cleveland is to provide an environment of learning and continuous growth with rigorous college preparatory science, mathematics, and technology program and to create an atmosphere for students, parents, and teachers to reach their highest potential.
 
 
The Horizon Science Academy-Cleveland will:
 
  • Promote science education in Cleveland by extending its reach to middle school and   high school students, who will be motivated to pursue success in their post-secondary and graduate studies.

 

  • Serve as a college preparatory school that insures all students will go to college without remediation.

 

  • Treat all students as gifted and talented.

 

  • Engage students through home visits, tutorials, peer study groups, and individualized instruction.

 

  • Provide intense, individualized instruction in science, math, technology and reading.

 

  • Offer intensive after school programs, including science competition study groups, extra curricular activities with a focus on academics, social and art, tutoring, and parent classes.

 

  • Give students stronger critical thinking and reasoning capabilities (scientific rationale).

 

  • Invite scientists, lawyers, and other professionals who are vanguards in their own fields, from local universities institutions and companies to give motivational speeches.

 

  • Partner with the science initiative programs to provide opportunities for internships, projects, and to participate in local, national, and international science fairs and competitions.

 

  • Collaborate with local universities, community agencies and educational institutions to share resources and build community assets.

 

  • Empower all stakeholders: students, teachers, families, and community members to participate in the development of the school.
