H ORIZON SCIENCE ACADEMY Cleveland hosted the Ohio High School Speech League Cleveland District Novice Tournament on Saturday, October 24.  Three hundred students, judges, and parents packed the Horizon building during the 3-hour competition. 

Horizon Science Academy joined the Ohio High School Speech League (OHSSL) and the National Forensic League (NFL) in 2008 and has had a Speech and Debate team competing since last fall.  Shaheeda Muhammad, a brand new member of Horizon’s debate team took second place in her event, Public Forum Debate. Miss Muhammad debated the topic resolved: Failed nations are a greater threat to the United States than stable nations. Other Horizon Competitiors included: Jordan Bronson, Antoinette Craig, Faith Onwudinjo,  Renada Simon, and Regine Warren.  Other team members are ShannonMcNatt, Samuel Tate, and Amanda Halaby.  The Horizon team is coached by Sharon McGraw.
